3 Festive Nail Styles to Try This Holiday Season

eHow Style Blog

With shades ranging from gold to berry to ivy, there are so many winter-friendly colors to work with over the holidays. When you dress up for a night at The Nutcracker, your office Christmas party, or the family gift exchange, it’s fun to have a few festive nail art ideas up your sleeve for the occasion.

1. Glittery Half-Moon Mani

Coat your nails with a basic nude pink like Julep’s Layne. Let this coat dry, and then use a gold glitter polish to paint half-moon shapes at the base of your nails. This is a great look for just a touch of glam.

2. Color-Block Berry Nail Art

Grab your berry tones, like Julep’s Nic and Butter London’s Queen Vic, to create holiday color-block nail art that will jazz up your best dress. The first coat should be the lighter shade. Let this dry completely. Position washi tape in a straight or diagonal line across the base of each nail.

Paint the second coat over the tape on the top half of your nails. Peel the tape off before the polish dries to reveal your color-block nail style.

3. Ombre Gold Nails

Use a metallic-based gold, like Essie’s Shifting Power, for the first coat of polish on your nails. Let it dry. Then, use a shimmery gold glitter polish, like Butter London’s The Full Monty, to paint an ombre effect on the top part of your nails. Stroke toward the nail bed but don’t go past the middle of your nails. The duo is subtle, but the effect is a dazzling one.
